Stephen has considerable experience both in contentious matters (particularly litigation in relation to insurance, marine, transport and commodity trading disputes) and non-contentious matters (particularly in relation to secured lending for real property, shares, yachts, commercial vessels and other property). He is a fluent Spanish speaker and has handled both company administration and litigation for clients in Spain and Latin America. He also speaks French. Stephen represented Total Transport Corporation in "The Protank Orinoco", reported in Lloyds List in 1997, being a seminal English Commercial Court case on deductions from carriage freight in the oil industry.

In April 2010 Stephen successfully completed the Executive Space Course at the International Space University in Strasbourg.
