Leading the way in Insolvency
In the unprecedented economic climate, GOUGH has been gearing up its practice to provide leading insolvency
and restructuring advice and services to its clients.
Founding Partner Alan Gough is an internationally recognised Advocate with extensive experience in insolvency related matters in connection with his asset tracing cases and in addition to that, GOUGH now boasts the addition of Mark Holligon. Managing Partner Paul Kerruish explains, ‘Mark has extensive experience in international insolvency matters, which has already been put to good use in the Firm's engagement in 2008 by the Treasury to advise and assist AlixPartners and the Treasury in respect of the possible reconstruction of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander (Isle of Man) Limited.

New Chair of Law Society Legislation Committee
In January 2008 Managing Partner Paul
Kerruish was elected to the Council of the Isle
of Man Law Society and took up
Chairmanship of the Isle of Man Law Society
Legislation Committee, which positions he retains for 2009.

GOUGH’s commitment to providing clients with unrivalled levels of expertise was enhanced in September 2008 with the key appointment of Mark Holligon. Mark’s expertise, gained in the City and more recently the Cayman Islands, centres around cross-border insolvency and restructuring, with particular reference to hedge funds, having acted in a number of major hedge fund restructures which have attracted global attention.

February 2009 sees the senior appointment
of David Saunders to a consultative role in
the core areas of Business Development and
Marketing for GOUGH. David enjoyed a long
and distinguished career with Isle of Man
Bank, from the introduction of a new
Marketing Strategy to leading the Wealth
Management Division and ultimately
becoming the Banks Chief Manager prior to
the RBS takeover. During this time, David
also took responsibility for some of the Banks
Premier Corporate Clients.

Stephen Mann LLD, MA

2008 saw Stephen stamp his mark of
expertise at GOUGH. Advising on corporate,
insurance, shipping and commercial matters
including trusts, gaming and property law. Stephen is a fluent Spanish linguist and has

A fresh Perspective
In line with the Firm’s expansion, the Litigation Department
has moved into new offices on the 4th floor of Anglo
International House. The stunning, wholly glazed state of
the art office suite is the completion of phase 1. Phase 2
